Premium Social Media Platform For User

Building a Location-First Social Discovery Platform Where City Trends Drive Content,
Not Follower Counts

We partnered with Blipearth to build a geo-aware social platform that connects people to trending content in their city β€” photos, videos, and live streams β€” surfaced via a real-time map, location-scoped hashtags, and creator feeds across iOS, Android, a customer web app, and a web admin panel.

About ClientΒ

Blipearth is a social media startup built around a specific observation: people have no reliable way to know what is happening around them right now. Generic platforms surface content from friends and algorithms. Local news covers what happened yesterday. Neither answers the question a person standing on a street corner actually wants answered β€” what is happening nearby, at this moment, is worth going to.

The client envisioned a platform where location was the primary filter for all content. Open the app and see a live map of posts, events, and streams happening within a radius you control. Browse city-level trending hashtags updated by local engagement, not global volume. The platform also had to serve users planning β€” browsing a destination city's trending content before they arrived β€” using the same interface as someone already on the ground.

About Client Gmta

Why Did Blipearth Collaborate With GMTA Software?

CodocCall GMTA

Blipearth's product required a geo-scoped trending algorithm, low-latency live streaming, three content types in a single feed, and four surfaces sharing one backendβ€”none of which a standard social app template addressed. The client needed a team with real-time geo-spatial development experience, not just social app experience, and a partner who could design a web application as a genuine desktop product rather than a scaled-up mobile layout.

GMTA Software was selected after a discovery session where our specific technical questions gave the client confidence early. We asked how the algorithm would balance recency against engagement density, how battery drain would be managed without sacrificing location accuracy, and how a viewer joining a live stream mid-broadcast would be handled. Those questions showed the client we understood the product's engineering reality, not just its feature list.

PLANNING TO BUILD A LOCATION-BASED SOCIAL PLATFORM?

We help startups build geo-aware social platforms with real-time map discovery, multi-format content, live streaming, and four-surface architecture β€” including iOS, Android, web, and admin.

Our Approach to Building the Blipearth Platform

Research-Driven Location Architecture

Research-Driven Location Architecture

Before design or development, we mapped how users actually discover local events β€” not how designers assume they do. Research confirmed the map needed to be a primary surface, not a buried feature. Competitor analysis showed that every existing platform treated location as a filter, not a lens. That distinction shaped every architectural decision that followed.

Scalable and Reliable Real-Time Infrastructure 02

Scalable and Reliable Real-Time Infrastructure

The platform's real-time character β€” live pin updates, trending refreshes, live stream delivery β€” required infrastructure designed for concurrent multi-city activity. Node.js and WebSocket handled real-time data delivery, MongoDB managed high-frequency engagement event storage, and a load balancer distributed traffic across server instances to maintain performance during peak engagement hours.

Multi-Format Content Management 03

Multi-Format Content Management

Supporting photos, videos, and live streams in one platform required a content layer that absorbed three different data types without exposing the complexity to the user. Every format entered through a consistent upload experience and surfaced through the same card and pin β€” the differences were entirely in the processing pipeline, invisible to anyone posting or browsing.

Geo-Aware UI/UX Design

Geo-Aware UI/UX Design

We designed the interface around location as the first context for every screen. The feed filtered by proximity before filtering by anything else. Creator profiles showed location context. Hashtags were ranked locally. Every layout decision started with the same question: does this tell the user something useful about what is happening near them right now?

Process We Followed

In-Depth Geo Research and Platform Architecture

Before development, we defined how the geo-cell trending model would segment geographic space, how engagement events would be scored and aged, and how four surfaces would share one API without inconsistency. Location data models, content type schemas, and admin permission structures were all specified and agreed before a line of code was written.

  • Geographic cell model and trending algorithm specification
  • API contract definition for all four surfaces
  • Content type data architecture for photos, videos, and live streams
  • WebSocket subscription model for real-time map and trending updates

Building a Unified Four-Surface Platform

iOS and Android apps, the customer web application, and the admin panel were developed in parallel against the shared API contract. The map, feed, creator profiles, and hashtag discovery were built separately for each surface β€” with layouts appropriate to the device and interaction model β€” not adapted from a single template.

  • iOS and Android apps with live map and three-format content
  • Desktop-first customer web application with split map-and-feed layout
  • Admin panel with trending controls, moderation queue, and city configuration
  • Live streaming infrastructure with WebRTC ingest and mid-stream join support

Development, Testing, and Launch

End-to-end testing covered the full content lifecycle across all four surfaces, live stream delivery under concurrent viewer load, and trending accuracy with simulated multi-city engagement data. A controlled beta period with real users preceded public launch on both app stores and the web platform.

  • Cross-surface content lifecycle testing β€” post on iOS, appears on Android map & webfeedd.
  • Live stream stress testing with concurrent viewers across platforms
  • Trending algorithm validation with simulated engagement across geographic cells
  • App Store, Google Play, and web platform public launch
