Musicify set out to answer a simple questionβwhy should live radio and quality music streaming cost anything at all? The client wanted an app where listeners could tune into stations, explore new tracks, and build playlists without hitting a paywall, while artists and labels had a real way to submit music and track how it performed. The platform needed to work across iOS and Android for everyday listeners, backed by a web admin panel giving the operations team control over artist profiles, catalog performance, and playlist placement.
A premium tier for higher-bitrate streaming had to sit alongside the free experience without complicating it. The system also needed to keep content discovery fast and engaging, helping listeners find new music without adding friction. Behind the scenes, flexible content controls ensured the catalog could evolve as the platform and audience continued to grow.
Musicify wanted more than a generic music player with a radio tab bolted on. They needed real playlist intelligenceβnew releases, mood-based blends, and discovery recommendationsβworking alongside a genuine artist and label submission process, not a static catalog that only the admin team could update manually behind the scenes.
They also needed the admin panel to give real visibility into how songs performed inside playlists, not just raw stream counts. We built the streaming pipeline around connection stability first, treating it as a core requirement rather than something to optimise later. Live radio and on-demand tracks keep playing smoothly even when network conditions shift mid-session, using adaptive buffering that quietly adjusts stream quality in the background instead of stopping playback outright every time signal strength dips. This mattered more for Musicify than for a typical app, since a single dropped stream during a live broadcast is the kind of moment that makes a listener close the app and not come back.

Followed-artist releases, mood-based blends, and discovery recommendations all run through one unified playlist engine rather than three separate systems competing for the user's attention. This meant users get a single connected listening experience instead of jumping between disconnected curated and personalized sections that feel like they belong to different apps. The engine weighs listening history, followed artists, and genre preferences together, creating recommendations that feel increasingly relevant over time.

Collaborative playlists let friends add and edit tracks together in real time, with permission handling built into the architecture from the very first version rather than added on afterward. Simultaneous changes don't overwrite each other, and every addition is tracked clearly enough that group members can see who added or removed a specific track without needing to ask. This created a more transparent, reliable collaboration experience, even when multiple users were actively editing the playlist at the same time.
The admin panel tracks how individual songs and albums perform inside specific playlists, not just total stream counts across the platform as a whole. This gives the operations team the actual context they need to manage a growing catalog accurately, understanding which songs are driving playlist adds versus which are simply accumulating passive plays. Combined with metadata management and artist profile tools, the panel was built to scale with the catalogue rather than becoming harder to manage as more artists and tracks were added over time.

Before development began, we looked at how listeners move between live radio, curated playlists, and their own collections, so the app matched real listening habits rather than a generic layout. This helped us structure navigation around familiar listening patterns, making key content easier to discover and access.
We designed the customer app and admin panel around one shared catalog, so an artist update or playlist change made in the admin panel reflects correctly across the app immediately. This eliminated duplicate content management, reduced synchronization issues, and gave the operations team confidence that every listener sees the latest catalog information.
Our team built and tested the platform against real streaming conditions, checking playback stability, playlist accuracy, and premium tier gating across both iOS and Android before launch. We also tested different network conditions and device scenarios to identify issues before they reached users.
