CodocCall: Building a Connected Healthcare Platform for Urban Markets

We partnered with CodocCall to transform how patients access healthcare. The solution covers doctor discovery, appointment scheduling, pharmacy ordering, lab test booking, and real-time health management β€” all from a single patient app, with dedicated web panels for pharmacies, labs, and the platform admin team.

About ClientΒ

CodocCall is an AI-powered healthcare platform that connects patients with doctors, pharmacies, and diagnostic labs through one digital system. The startup was built around a simple but frustrating observation: patients were managing their health across three or four disconnected tools β€” a clinic website to book appointments, a separate pharmacy to check medicine availability, and yet another portal to get lab results. None of these talked to each other, and the patient bore the coordination burden every time.

The founding team wanted a single platform that handled everything β€” finding the right doctor, scheduling a visit, ordering prescribed medicines, booking lab tests, and tracking results β€” without the user having to leave the app. Healthcare providers, pharmacies, and labs, they needed their own management panels that handled operations without requiring developer support for day-to-day tasks.

About Client Gmta

Why Did CodocCall Collaborate With GMTA Software?

CodocCall GMTA

The client's requirement was not a standard booking app. They needed a four-panel system β€” a patient mobile app, a web admin panel, a pharmacy management panel, and a lab management panel β€” all sharing the same backend and staying in sync in real time. That kind of multi-stakeholder platform, particularly in healthcare where data sensitivity and workflow accuracy are non-negotiable, needed a development partner with specific experience in the category.

CodocCall chose GMTA Software after evaluating several agencies. Most proposed generic template-based solutions that did not account for the operational differences between a pharmacy's inventory workflow and a lab's test scheduling logic. GMTA's discovery approach β€” asking about specific workflows like how a cancelled appointment would affect a pharmacy order already placed, or how a lab result would reach the patient β€” showed the client that we understood the product's operational complexity, not just its feature list.

PLANNING A HEALTHCARE PLATFORM LIKE CODOCCALL?

We help healthcare startups build secure, scalable platforms with patient apps, admin dashboards, pharmacy panels, and lab management β€” all from one unified backend. Whether you are connecting doctors and patients or building a multi-service health ecosystem, we have done it before.

Our Approach to Elevating the CodocCall Platform

Research-Driven Healthcare Design

Research-Driven Healthcare Design

Before writing any code, we mapped the patient journey end to end β€” from searching for a doctor to receiving a lab result. We interviewed the founding team about specific workflow failures they had observed in existing healthcare apps, identified the handoff points where patients were most likely to drop out, and used those findings to define the feature scope and information architecture. Every screen was designed around a specific user action, not around what was technically easiest to build.

Scalable Multi-Panel Architecture 02

Scalable Multi-Panel Architecture

We designed the backend as a single Laravel API serving four different frontend surfaces with role-specific data scopes. Adding a new panel in the future β€” a diagnostics chain, a network of clinics β€” would require configuring roles and views, not restructuring the data model. PostgreSQL handled the relational complexity between appointments, prescriptions, and lab orders, while Firebase managed real-time notifications across all four user types simultaneously.

Real-Time Operational Data Management 03

Real-Time Operational Data Management

Pharmacy inventory, lab slot availability, and appointment status all had to reflect live operational states. We built real-time sync between the pharmacy panel's stock management and the patient-facing medicine browsing, so a medicine marked unavailable in the pharmacy panel disappeared from the patient app within seconds. The same principle applied to lab bookings β€” slots were locked at the database level on confirmation to prevent concurrent over-booking.

Unified Yet Role-Specific User Experience

Unified Yet Role-Specific User Experience

Each of the four panels needed to feel purpose-built for its users while sharing the same visual language. The patient app prioritised simplicity and speed β€” bottom navigation, a single home dashboard with quick access to all services, and appointment tracking that required no more than three taps from open to confirmed. The admin, pharmacy, and lab panels prioritised data density and operational control β€” dashboards with key metrics, sortable tables, and status management workflows designed for professional users rather than casual ones.

In-Depth Healthcare Workflow Research

Before development began, we worked through each user type's operational reality in detail β€” not just what features they needed, but how they would use the platform in a live healthcare environment. This covered patient onboarding friction points, pharmacy inventory management workflows, lab scheduling capacity constraints, and the admin team's oversight requirements.

  • Patient journey mapping across all health services
  • Healthcare provider workflow analysis
  • System gap identification across existing tools
  • Feature prioritisation based on operational impact

Designing a Centralised Healthcare Ecosystem

Based on the research, we designed four interconnected panels sharing a single backend. Every panel was built around its user's primary daily action β€” patients booking and tracking, pharmacists managing orders, labs scheduling tests, admins monitoring the platform. The shared data model ensured that an appointment confirmed in the patient app appeared in the doctor's schedule and the pharmacy panel's prescription queue simultaneously.

  • Patient app architecture & navigation design
  • Admin, pharmacy, & lab panel UI design
  • Database schema for multi-service healthcare data
  • API contract definition for all four surfaces

Development, Testing, and Launch

Our engineering team built the patient iOS app and all three web panels concurrently against the same API. Real-time features β€” appointment status notifications, pharmacy inventory sync, lab slot locking β€” were tested under concurrent usage scenarios before launch. Security testing covered API access boundary enforcement for every role combination.

  • iOS patient app and three web panel development
  • Real-time sync testing across concurrent user scenarios
  • Role-boundary security testing for all panel combinations
  • Performance and reliability optimisation before launch
