Li-nk β€” Building a Premium Global Limousine Platform for Airport Transfers and Charter Services

A native iOS and Android platform connecting passengers with professional limousine providers across multiple countries β€” built for the specific demands of airport logistics, real-time tracking, and premium service delivery. Flight-aware dispatch. Real-time tracking. In-app driver chat. Built for a passenger who just landed β€” not one flagging down a car. Every city, every airport, configured without touching a line of code.

About ClientΒ

Li-nk was built around one specific problem β€” airport transfers done properly. Not a generic ride-hailing experience dressed up with a black car, but a purpose-built limousine service product: flight-aware arrival pickups, a meet-and-greet at the terminal, pre-scheduled departure bookings, and charter options for city-to-city or event-based travel. No existing platform treated the airport transfer as its primary use case rather than a feature added to a broader ride-hailing product.

The client's vision was global from the beginning. They weren't building for a single city or region β€” they wanted a platform that could be activated in new cities as the business expanded, with each city carrying its own active airports, terminal configurations, and dedicated driver pools. A traveller landing in one city and needing a car in another the following morning should have the same app, the same booking experience, and the same quality of service regardless of where they happened to be arriving.

About Client Gmta

Why Li-nk Chose Us

Li-nk GMTA

The client had already ruled out white-label ride-hailing scripts. Their reason was direct: those tools are built for general taxi use, not for airport operations. Arrival pickups depend on flight data. Departure bookings require scheduling logic. Terminal and gate management has no equivalent in a standard taxi product. They needed a team that could build it from scratch.

They also needed two separate native applications β€” iOS built in Swift and Android in Kotlin β€” rather than a cross-platform build. For a premium transport product, the app's quality is inseparable from the service itself. A passenger who just stepped off a long-haul flight has a certain expectation. GPS accuracy during live driver tracking, push notifications when the app is closed, and smooth map performance all behave better in native builds. That was a non-negotiable technical requirement from the start. Our prior work in the transportation category, combined with our track record building complex backend systems with real-time data, multi-city configuration, and dynamic admin controls, gave the client confidence that we understood what the project actually demanded.

Building a Premium Transport Platform of Your Own?

Limousine services, airport transfers, executive transport, charter networks β€” these aren't problems you solve with a generic ride-hailing script. If you're building in the premium mobility space and need a team that understands the operational complexity and product quality the market demands, we'd like to hear about it.

Our Approach to Building the Li-nk Platform

Starting with the Airport, Not the App

Starting with the Airport, Not the App

The first thing we mapped wasn't a user journey β€” it was an airport. How does an arrival transfer actually work from the moment a flight lands to the moment the passenger is in the car? What variables affect dispatch timing? What happens when a flight is delayed? What does the driver need to know, and at what point do they need to know it? Answering those questions in detail before touching any design meant the product logic was sound from the ground up β€” not retrofitted around an interface once development was already underway.

Native Builds for iOS and Android 02

Native Builds for iOS and Android

The iOS app was built in Swift and the Android app in Kotlin β€” two separate native codebases developed in parallel against the same backend API. For a premium transport product, native wasn't a preference; it was a requirement the client set from the first conversation and we agreed with. Background GPS tracking, push notification handling when the app is closed, smooth map rendering during live driver tracking, and reliable camera access all work more consistently in native builds. The extra development effort was justified by the product quality it produced.

Real-Time Node.js Architecture 03

Real-Time Node.js Architecture

The real-time layer was built using Node.js and WebSockets, which kept persistent connections open between the server, driver apps, and passenger apps throughout active bookings. Booking assignments, live driver location updates, and in-app chat messages all travelled through this layer without separate polling requests. A load balancer sat in front to distribute incoming connections across server instances, ensuring the system maintained performance when multiple cities had simultaneous peak-hour traffic β€” the scenario most likely to expose architectural weaknesses, and the scenario we specifically tested against before launch.

Dynamic Admin Panel with City-Level Control

Dynamic Admin Panel with City-Level Control

The Laravel-based web admin panel was designed to give the Li-nk management team full operational control without requiring developer intervention for routine changes. Enabling a new city, configuring its airports and terminals, adjusting vehicle categories, monitoring active drivers on a live map, and reviewing booking distributions could all be done directly from the panel by the operations team. Different admin roles had different access levels β€” a city operations manager could manage their city's configuration without touching global settings, and the system enforced those boundaries at the API level, not just in the interface.

Process We Followed

01 Discovery and System Architecture Discovery and System Architecture
Discovery and System Architecture

Discovery and System Architecture

Before development began, we mapped the airport transfer workflow end to end, defined the multi-city configuration model, specified the database architecture splitting MongoDB from PostgreSQL, and wrote the complete API contract for all three surfaces β€” passenger app, driver app, and admin panel.

  • Airport transfer workflow mapping and dispatch logic documentation
  • API contract definition for all three surfaces
  • City configuration requirements and terminal management specification
  • Database schema planning β€” PostgreSQL and MongoDB split
02 Core Development β€” Backend Core Development β€” Backend
Core Development β€” Backend

Core Development β€” Backend, Apps, and Real-Time Layer

The backend API, real-time Node.js layer, load balancer, and both native apps were developed concurrently with weekly integration checkpoints. Airport dispatch logic, live tracking, in-app chat, and multilingual currency flows were built in parallel β€” not sequentially β€” to keep all surfaces consistent throughout development.

  • Laravel APIβ€”authentication, booking, city and airport configuration, pricing
  • Node.js WebSocket layer β€” dispatch, live location, in-app chat
  • iOS Swift and Android Kotlin apps in parallel development tracks
  • Admin panel with city management, live driver map, and booking dashboard
03 QA, Load Testing, and Beta Launch QA, Load Testing, and Beta Launch
QA, Load Testing, and Beta Launch

QA, Load Testing, and Beta Launch

All three surfaces were tested against flight-delay rebooking, peak-hour concurrent city loads, currency switching mid-session, driver reassignment on rejection, and WebSocket reconnection after dropped connections. Beta launched in one city with a controlled driver pool before a phased rollout to additional cities.

  • End-to-end QA across passenger app, driver app, and admin panel
  • Simulated multi-city peak-hour concurrent load testing
  • Flight delay, driver reassignment, and currency-switch edge case testing
  • Beta city launch followed by phased multi-city rollout
