Match Magic came to us with a problem they'd spotted in the dating market β most apps are built around volume, not outcomes. The client believed better filtering, richer compatibility data, and stronger communication tools would help users actually find what they were looking for.They wanted one app that served both serious daters and casual users equally well, without safety treated as an afterthought. Verification, moderation, and reporting tools were requirements from day one, which told us they understood what a responsible platform actually takes.
The product also had to take safety seriously from the first build, not as an afterthought. Profile verification, content moderation, blocking and reporting tools, and admin oversight of interactions were requirements the client had specified before they came to us β not things we had to push for. That told us they understood what building a responsible social platform actually involved.
The client had reviewed white-label dating scripts and rejected them quickly β the matching logic was simplistic, communication was text-only, and admin tools were minimal. They needed a platform built around their own product thinking, not a generic template stretched to fit.
They chose native development, Swift and Kotlin, because performance and notification reliability had to feel native in an emotionally sensitive product. Our questions about onboarding data and scoring weight convinced them we were thinking about the product, not just the build.

6 Months Free Maintenance After Launch
The quality of a compatibility-based matching system is only as good as the data it runs on. We spent considerable time designing the onboarding flow to collect meaningful preference and values data without making it feel tedious. The onboarding was broken into short, visually engaging steps that asked specific questions about relationship goals, personal values, and lifestyle preferences. Users who completed more of the profile unlocked better match suggestions, β which gave them a tangible reason to engage with the process rather than skipping through it.

The real-time chat system supported text, audio messages, and live video. For video, we used a WebRTC-based implementation with server-side relay (TURN/STUN) to handle connections in restricted network environments. If a video call connection couldn't be established, the system fell back to audio-only and notified both users. Text chat remained available throughout. The chat interface was designed so that switching between modes didn't break the conversation threadβeverything stayed in one scrollable history regardless of message type.

New users could sign up and start browsing profiles within a few minutes. Full match access and messaging required a basic verification step β photo submission compared against a live selfie using an automated check. Verified users were badged on their profiles, which improved their match rate and gave other users a visible trust signal. Premium features required an additional layer of verification. This staged approach kept signup conversion high while making unverified fake profiles far less useful β they couldn't initiate meaningful contact with verified users.
The web-based admin panel was designed with the moderation team's actual daily workflow in mind. Reported profiles and content appeared in a prioritized queue sorted by report volume and severity type. Moderators could review a profile, see its interaction history, and take action in a few clicksβcontent removal, temporary suspension, or permanent banβwith every action logged automatically. A separate dashboard tracked platform-level metrics: active user counts, match success rates, daily message volumes, and subscription uptake.

We began by mapping relationship-intent personas, designing the compatibility scoring model, and documenting the onboarding structure and data flow before development started. This discovery phase helped us understand user expectations, define meaningful matching criteria, and eliminate friction from the registration journey.
We designed a shared architecture connecting the matching engine, chat system, events layer, and admin panel around one consistent, cohesive user experience. Every module was built to work seamlessly together, ensuring smooth data flow and real-time synchronization across the platform. This unified foundation simplified navigation, reduced operational complexity, and maintained a consistent design language throughout the product.
Our team built and tested the platform end to end, with particular focus on match consistency, video call fallback, and moderation accuracy under load. We conducted extensive functional, performance, and usability testing to ensure every feature worked reliably across different devices and network conditions.
